Xiaomi Router AX9000 Unboxing: A Flagship Gaming Wi-Fi Router With WiFi 6 Standards

In Mar., Xiaomi announced a slew of new products during a launch live stream. During the online conference, the Chinese tech giant took the wraps off the new Xiaomi Router AX9000 Gaming Wi-Fi Router, which comes with WiFi 6 standards.

Xiaomi has maintained a relatively higher update frequency for routers as compared to other smart home products, covering all price ranges. The company announced the Xiaomi router AX3600/AX1800 at the Xiaomi 10 series new product launch conference last year.

The Xiaomi router AX6000 was released on Mar. 29, supports 4K QAM technology, and it also introduced the third-generation flagship router of the WiFi 6 family, dubbed the Mi AX9000 Gaming Wi-Fi Router, which is currently available for $189 on Giztop. The router comes in an extremely large package.

When the package is opened, you see a well-textured aluminum box. The AX9000 features 12 antennas, which is a common processing method for a high-end router in terms of design. In a bid to make the design of the Xiaomi Mi Router AX9000 more integrated, the three antennas have been divided into one group, making it look like it has four antennas.

The bottom of the four groups of antennas features a hinge design, which is for aesthetic considerations. The hinge has a limited design. Aside from the folded state, two positions offer a sense of fixation.

One of the antennas features the word “WiFi6 Router AX9000” along with the logo of 4K QAM technology. The processing technology has also been adopted by the Xiaomi router AX6000.

The main body of the Xiaomi router AX9000 adopts features an octagonal design. The Xiaomi logo is placed at the center of the top, while the LED strips are surrounded by an “X”-shaped LED strip. Each strip supports up to 16.7 million colors and has 2 RGB lights.

These light strips also serve as status indicators, which turn red in case of a problem with the network, and remain green under normal conditions. Moreover, it has e-sports mode lighting effects and 5 lighting effects to choose from.

The Xiaomi router AX9000 has a large number of polygonal designs. The main body is angular and has a triangular antenna. The product’s design language is primarily polyline, and it is equipped with LED light strips.

Since the AX9000 adopts an octagonal design and has four sets of antennas, it is understandable that the other four sides support the other functions. There are two status indicators placed in the front of the router.

While the left side houses the USB 3.0 interface and the Mesh button, the right side features the switch, power interface, and reset button. The layout of 1 WAN port and 4 LAN ports are located at the rear.

The WAN port supports broadband access above Gigabit, and the theoretical rate of the LAN port can reach up to 2.5Gbps. It supports the establishment of NAS for LAN transmission as well.

The network cable and the power supply are not in the same part, giving it a messy visual effect. The bottom of the fuselage uses a large-area hollow design, and the whole metal heat sink, which is placed inside, increases passive heat dissipation. There is also a fan for active heat dissipation.

The Xiaomi router AX9000 packs a Qualcomm IPQ8072 processor has four Cortex-A53 cores, uses a 14-nanometer process technology, with a clock speed of up to 2.2GHz. Moreover, this chip has an independent dual-core NPU with a clock speed of 1.7GHz.

If the naming method of the AX series of Xiaomi routers is anything to go by, the speed of the AX9000 should be around 9000MHz. The router has a total speed of 8354Mbps+600Mbps, with the highest speed of 2.4G frequency band being 1148Mbps and the highest speed of 5G frequency band.

The highest rate of the 5G Gaming frequency band is 4804Mbps at 2402Mbps, which is a combined rate of 8354Mbps. The dual-frequency design of the AIoT antenna, on the other hand, offers a combined rate of 600Mbps for the two frequency bands.

The AX9000 has been equipped with Qualcomm 4K QAM modulation and uses demodulation technology, which increases the maximum QAM rate from 1024K to 4096K. Those using a Snapdragon 888 device that supports 4K QAM technology are likely to experience a higher connection rate.

The Xiaomi router AX9000 has achieved the highest level in terms of hardware specifications, lighting effects, heat dissipation design, and performance parameters. It uses a popular 5G Gaming gaming frequency band.

The Xiaomi router AX9000 will set you back 999 yuan. You can head straight to this link to get your hands on the new Xiaomi router AX9000 for just $189 from Giztop.
