Xiaomi marked its foray into the notebook segment in July 2016, launching two thin and light notebooks. While other manufacturers of plastic fuselages and low-color gamut TN screens at the time, Xiaomi took the market by storm by using metal CNC integrated fuselages and high-quality screens.
During the Xiaomi Mega Launch event, Xiaomi unveiled the Mi Notebook Pro 14 2021 and the Mi Notebook Pro 15 2021, the most premium laptops from the Chinese tech giant as far as features are concerned.

Appearance and Design
Housed in a gun-gray all-metal body, the Mi Notebook Pro 15 features sharp edges. It is 15.9mm thick and weighs 1.8 Kg. The Xiaomi logo is engraved on the A side. Both, A and B sides support one-handed opening and closing, with a maximum opening and closing angle of 150 degrees.
There is a 16:10 OLED screen covered under a whole glass mirror. A camera and a stereo microphone are placed at the top of the screen, and there is a Xiaomi logo at the bottom.
The C side and D side are similar to the previously released RedmiBook Pro 15. It is processed using CNC technology. The keyboard features a sunken design and a scissor foot structure with a relatively large keycap and an independent Xiao Ai voice assistant button placed on the top right.
These are the mainstream chocolate keycaps with a 1.5mm keystroke. They support 2-level backlight adjustment and the overall percussion feel is satisfactory. The feedback intensity is moderate and there is no numeric keypad.
The power button is on the upper right corner of the C side. It supports Windows 10 Hello fingerprint recognition login.
Placed at the center, the touchpad has a large area. It offers smooth and delicate touch. The D side quite satisfactory, with 8 screws on the surface, 2 sets of oval rubber feet, 2 regular long air outlets, and 1 set of speaker openings on both sides of the bottom.
Xiaomi eliminated most of the interface in a bid to make Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro 15 extremely thin. The company retained only 3 full-function Type-C interfaces, 2 supports 100w PD input, 1 supports Thunderbolt 4, and more A 3.5mm interface.
You can use an extender produced by Zimi, which can expand a Type-A interface and an HDMI interface. However, you can’t plug in the USB flash drive if you plug in the mouse. It is recommended to use one Multi-port splitter.
The Mi Notebook Pro 15 comes with a small and portable 100w two-pin PD charger. On the downside, the two-pin plug has no ground wire, and there will be hemp leakage inductance on the metal body, but it does not affect the use.
Light and thin notebooks can ideally only be charged with a PD adapter of more than 45w, however, the Mi Notebook Pro 15 OLED can be charged with most mobile phone chargers. As can be seen in Bios, the minimum support 5v0.5a or 2.5w charging.
Although it is likely to take a day and night to fully charge, it provides a solution in emergencies.
The OLED screen offers accurate color, high and uniform brightness, high contrast, and good HDR compatibility, making it a good choice for creative designers. On the downside, large OLED screens aren’t easy on the pocketbook, so they are usually used for creative designs worth over 10,000 yuan.
Xiaomi has dropped the 3.5K OLED screen price to 6000, by using Samsung’s latest E4 material. The quality of this master screen is worth looking forward to.
The resolution was adjusted to 3456 x 2160 pixels and manually adjusted the brightness to the highest 410nit. A professional color calibration instrument can be used to test the color gamut color accuracy.
The measured color gamut covers 99.9% of sRGB, 95.2% of Adobe RGB, and 99.2% of P3 color gamut. The brightness has reached 410nit, which is quite good.
Factory calibration enables excellent color accuracy. Aside from arranging each screen individually, Xiaomi has stored the ICC file corresponding to each screen in the cloud, even if the system is reinstalled it can be downloaded back.
After unscrewing the 8 screws on the D side, you can check out the bayonet from the air inlet of the shaft. It is worth mentioning here that the shaft has long screws, and there are 6 short screws.
Compared with Redmi’s 15-inch notebook, a small fan is added inside to form a heat dissipation design with dual heat pipes and dual fans, and the overall structure is compact. The CPU and GPU can be stabilized at 77°C after 15 minutes in the measured speed mode.
You will not feel too hot during the operation. The commonly used WASD is about 40 degrees Celcius, and the temperature of the wrist rest is about 35 degrees Celcius. When fully loaded, the noise of the seated fan is about 54.6db.
The onboard memory, which is covered by a shield is located below the fan. Samsung particle, 8G+8G dual-channel, frequency is 3200Mhz, but there is no 4266Mhz and no upgrade space.
The left side of the memory houses an Intel AX201 wireless network card, which supports Wi-Fi6 protocol and has good performance. There is an m.2 slot on the right side of the memory.
Since there is only such a hard disk slot in the device, upgrading will not be easy. It has a KBG40ZNV512G, from the KIOXIA model hard drive. Kioxia’s SSD is Toshiba’s original particle, and the ultimate speed is not high, but it is extremely stable.

Let us check out its theoretical running points and actual experience. Intel’s new H35 processor i7-11370H standard pressure processor is still 4 cores and 8 threads. In PCMARK10, which represents daily office performance, the Mi Notebook Pro 15 OLED scored 5498 points. When using battery power, it scored 4289, which is enough for meeting daily needs.

Now, let’s check out the 3DMARK game running score. In TimeSpy, the final score is 2103, and in Fire Strike, the final score is 4258. In other words, it can run most online games.
While playing League of Legends at the highest resolution with high special effects and more than 100 frames in terms of game frames. The game experience was smooth.
CS:GO can’t run at 3456 x 2160 pixels resolution since there are only more than 40 frames. If it is reduced to a 2K resolution, it can be stabilized at around 70 frames.
There is no problem playing online games with general configuration requirements. The Mi Notebook Pro 15 OLED performance is of a standard all-rounder. You can effortlessly edit 4K videos and even modify pictures.
