Xiaomi Mi Band 5 Leaks Reveal New Features and Avengers Branding

The Xiaomi Mi Band line of fitness bands are among the best selling wearables in the world, and Xiaomi’s looking to repeat that success with the upcoming Mi Band 5. The new Mi Band will launch on June 11 in an online conference, with a slew of new features over its predecessors.

Some leaked images have also revealed more features coming to the Mi Band 5, among them being contactless NFC payments. Outside of that, we also see some leaks for some Marvel Avengers themed faces, hinting at a limited edition Marvel branded Mi Band 5.

From a design standpoint, the biggest and most obvious change is the new display. It’s a new horizontal 1.2-inch pill-shaped display, an improvement over the Mi Band 4’s 0.95-inch display. While this is a big physical change, there’s more going on under the hood.

One of the new features coming to the Mi Band 5 is the ability to trigger your phone’s camera shutter via the fitness band. We’ve seen similar implementations of this feature on other smartwatches and smart bands, so it’s good to see this feature arrive on Mi Bands.

Xiaomi’s new Mi band will also feature five exercise modes, those being yoga, elliptical machine, rowing machine, rope jumping and indoor cycling. We’ve also got a new oxygen saturation monitoring feature, adding to the Mi Band 5’s ever growing list of features.
