Qualcomm on Tuesday announced the next iteration of the flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 888. The chipset is currently the hot topic in the tech-mill as it is exciting fans to see which manufacturers will bring it in the next flagship phones. Now, Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun has taken it to Weibo revealing that the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 11 will be the first smartphone to fuel the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset.
There are scarce details on the device but the chipset which will be inside the phone is insanely powerful. The Snapdragon 888 is based on a 5nm process and has a Snapdragon X60 5G modem. This particular modem supports mmWave and sub-6 5G connectivity.

It comes with Qualcomm’s sixth-generation AI Engine and is a potential successor to the Snapdragon 865. In case you are unaware, the chipset was speculated to launch as Snapdragon 875 but Qualcomm has gone with the triple ‘8’ numbering.
Aside from this, the Mi 11 Pro is also expected to come powered by the same chipset. The speculations hint at an early January 2021 launch but let’s wait until Xiaomi officially confirms it.
Some of the other phones fueling the Snapdragon 888 will come from the following giants – Realme, Asus, OnePlus, Black Shark, Lenovo, LG, Nubia, Motorola, Oppo, Vivo, and Meizu.
