Xiaomi Mi 10S Review: Xiaomi unveiled the Mi 10 last year and the handset garnered huge popularity. The phone entered the high-end market and is worth recommending even today.
The Xiaomi Mi 10 grabbed first place in Huibao’s “5G Mobile Phone Preservation List 2020. Still riding high on the success of the Mi 10, the Chinese phone maker released the Mi 10S on March 10. The phone is currently available for pre-order for $599 on Giztop.
The Mi 10S retains the design style of the Mi 10 series. The phone sports a 6.67-inch hyperboloid screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. The back of the Mi 10S resembles the Mi 10 Extreme Commemorative Edition.
The Mi 10S is up for grabs in three eye-catching color options including black, blue, and white. The white version offers a ceramic-like feel, with a highly appealing touch and feel. The phone adopts a symmetrical dual speaker design with dual 1216 super linear speaker units placed on the bottom and top of the phone, which is comparable to a 1.2cc super-large sound cavity.
The 7-magnet design is used inside the speaker, and the maximum aptitude reaches up to 0.7mm, which enhances the loudness and low-frequency of the Mi 10S speaker. The Mi 10S packs a powerful Snapdragon 870 mobile platform, uses a 7nm process, CPU adopts Kryo 585 octa-core architecture and the main frequency is increased to 3.2GHz, which is 12 percent higher than the previous generation. The phone has an Adreno 650 GPU, which is 10 percent higher than the previous generation.
In terms of connectivity, the Mi 10S supports WiFi, and Bluetooth 5.1 audio technology; using the 5th generation AI engine. It also supports 15 TOPS computing power while bringing lower power consumption.
As compared to the Snapdragon 865, the Snapdragon 870 has a 12 percent increase in single-core performance and an increase of about 5 percent in multi-core performance. Moreover, the Snapdragon 870 uses an improved version of the Adreno 50 GPU and offers better performance than the Snapdragon 865.
The Mi 10S offers very good gaming performance. The phone can run Glory of the King stably at an 86.8 frame rate, and the fluctuation of the frame rate curve is concentrated in the death phase of the character. So, the game experience is smooth despite the frame rate fluctuation.
The average frame rate of Peace Elite also reaches 88.8 frames. The average frame rate of Original God under the default setting is 29.5, which is relatively stable. When switches to 60 frames, the average frame rate is 52.5 frames. The overall smoothness is good, and the advantage of 60 frames can be felt.
The Xiaomi Mi 10S comes with four rear-mounted cameras including a 2MP depth-of-field lens, a 100MP ultra-clear main camera, a 2MP macro lens, and a 3MP ultra-wide-angle lens. The main camera supports OIS optical image stabilization, which improves the shooting stability.
