Xiaomi Folding Phone Patents Appear With Quad Camera Setup

Today, we’ve managed to score some brand new news about the very secretive and unknown Xiaomi Folding Phone. Weibo based leaker and blogger @i科技君 shows us some brand new patents that Xiaomi has recently applied for, and they reveal a very interesting design.

The folding phone patent from Xiaomi adopts an external folding design and uses a quad camera setup on the back, which is reminiscent of the Huawei Mate X and XS. The advantage of the outer folding solution is that the camera module can be used as both the front facing selfie camera, and the rear camera.

Of course, it’s not really something to get all too worked up over. Xiaomi has previously applied patents for device with clamshell designs, rotating rear cameras, and a smartphone with 7 cameras. Just because something has been patented does not mean we’ll ever see it officially release, though it’s still fun to speculate.
