World’s First Blue-lightless Bedside Lamp appears on Xiaomi Crowdfunding Platform

When you stare at a screen for hours at a time, whether it is a computer, TV, phone or tablet, you are exposed to blue light from the device. Blue light contributes to digital eye strain, and it allegedly leads to issues like improper sleep. This is especially problematic when concerning bedside lamps, which tend to emit certain amounts of blue-light. To this end, Xiaomi has a solution.

Making its official appearance on Xiaomi’s MIJIA crowdfunding platform is the Midian Zero-blu-ray Bedside Sleep Aid Lamp, the product is on crowdfunding for 199 yuan (~$28) but the actual price is 329 yuan (~$46). It’s essentially a bedside lamp that emits absolutely no blue-light, which will allegedly ensure less eye-strain and promote better sleep.

The bedside lamp features an LED light source and is developed by scientists from the Chinese Academy of Sciences of Nanchang University. The lamp uses a high-efficiency yellow LED as the core and red LED to achieve a phosphor-free, low colour temperature pure LED light source. It’s certainly quite the interesting marketing pitch.

The Midian Zero-blu-ray Bedside Sleep Aid lamp is a smart product that can be paired with the MIJIA app. This means that the device comes with a slew of features, like the “wake up” function. From the MIJIA app, you can set the daily wake-up time and even choose to have a piece of soft music played in the background. It also supports XiaoAI voice assistant, which makes things much more comfortable during those lazy mornings.

The Xiaomi MIJIA crowdfunding platform always features very interesting gadgets, and this certainly fits the bill. We’re definitely looking forward to seeing whether these actually work well however.
