Vivo on Monday launched the world’s first Snapdragon 480 powered smartphone dubbed Vivo Y31s 5G in the Chinese market. For those who are unaware, the Snapdragon 480 chipset is the cheapest 5G-enabled Snapdragon processor for smartphones. Said that the Vivo Y31s comes at a budget price tag of CNY 1,698($262) and has three color options. While we look at colors and availability, let’s also take a look at it’s specs sheet.
Vivo Y31s Specifications, Colors, and Availability
The Vivo Y31s features a 6.58-inch water-drop notch display with a Full-HD+ resolution. It is an IPS LCD panel with a 90Hz refresh rate and a screen-to-body ratio of 90.61%. It has a similar rear camera design as the Vivo X50 flagship series. Vivo seems to be trying that design in the budget segment with some specs tweaking.

Talking about its camera specs, the smartphone has a dual-rear camera system with 13-megapixel primary lens and another 2-megapixel depth sensing unit. At the front, the handset has a 2-megapixel camera for selfies.
At the helm, the newly announced Snapdragon 480 SoC shines alongside the 6GB RAM. It has 128GB of UFS 2.1 internal storage and runs on Android 11. The 5G handset packs a 5,000mAh battery and supports 18W fast charging technology. The battery can be juiced up via the USB Type-C port and there’s also the 3.5mm headphone jack for music listening.
It has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner which also acts as a power button. The device has also got Face unlock support for added security. Resuming the colors, the phone comes in Ruby Red, Titanium Empty Gray, and Monot color variants. It will go on sale from January 15 in China.
As of now, Vivo has now revealed its availability outside the hometown but with this, we can at least expect more Snapdragon 480 powered devices in the coming months.
