According to the Verge, Amazon has released an upgraded version of their Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet with a better processor, more memory, and a USB-C charging port. In addition, Amazon also launched the new Fire HD 8 Plus, which provides greater memory and Qi wireless charging.
So, how exactly has the Fire HD 8 been upgraded? The processor has gone from a 1.3GHz quad-core chip to a 2.0 GHz quad-core chip. Amazon says its speed has increased by 30%. There amount of RAM has been increased from 1.5GB to 2GB, and the storage options are now 32GB and 64GB. Everything else remains the same.
In terms of price, the basic model now starts at $89.99, which is a fairly good price for an entry level tablet like this. The Fire HD 8 Plus on the other hand costs $109.99, but ups the RAM to 3GB, adds Qi wireless charging, and includes a faster 9W charger in the box, as well as six months of Kindle Unlimited service.
