YouTuber Chong Li posted a video of a gaming performance comparison between the Redmi Note 8 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus. He played PUBG Mobile, a very popular mobile game with decently high graphics and ran the test for 30-minutes. The results are fairly surprising as the Redmi Note 8 Pro manages to beat the much more expensive Galaxy S20 Plus.
Xiaomi‘s Redmi Note 8 Pro manages to achieve a stable and consistent 60fps frame rate throughout 30 minutes. On the other hand, Galaxy S20 Plus started out perfectly fine, but showed inconsistent results as the test went on. In fact, just after 10 minutes, the Galaxy S20 Plus drops from 60fps down to 50fps.
While it’s certainly a bit of a shock to see a mid-range device outperform a high-end device like this, it really shouldn’t come as a surprise. The reason for the drop in performance is overheating and throttling, which has been a long standing issue for Exynos chipsets.
The Galaxy S20 Plus comes in two variants, Snapdragon and Exynos. The Exynos variant is the only option for Asian and European markets, which is bad since the Snapdragon variants are always better with improved performance and battery life. For more news, stay tuned on Giztop.com.
