Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 8 that debuted back in 2019 running Android 9 Pie has started receiving the latest Android 11 update in the Chinese market. The smartphone was initially running on the MIUI 10 on top of the Android system and now with the new OS update, it will run on the latest MIUI 12.
Back in December, Xiaomi confirmed Android 11 updates for a few smartphones launched in 2019. Usually, the company provides a single Android update for most of its budget phones but seeing the Redmi Note 8 in the list of updates surprised everyone. With that said, the Note 8 becomes an even more value-for-money device for those who bought it back in 2019 in the Chinese market.

The Note 8’s Android 11 update has the following build number – V12.0.1.0 RCOCNXM. It is a stable beta version with a few of Android 11’s features, hence, the availability for every user is a concern. Currently, only a few of the selected users are getting the update.
Aside from this, the update is expected to reach other regions as well. The smartphone was also launched in a few of Xiaomi’s major markets like India where we could see the update rolling soon.
