Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has scheduled a launch for the Redmi K40 series in the Chinese market. Ahead of its launch, the vanilla K40 has arrived on the Geekbench certifications revealing key specs. Earlier, the smartphone was said to pack either a Dimensity 1000-series processor or a Snapdragon 7, Snapdragon 8-series processor. Now, with the Geekbench listing, it is confirmed that the phone packs a Snapdragon 8-series chipset just like the Pro model.
Redmi K40 Geekbench listing and Leaked Specs
The Redmi K40 tags the model number M2012K11AC with the code name ‘alioth’. It powers the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chipset(as per the source code) clocked at a base frequency of 1.80GHz. The handset scored 1016 single-core points and 3332 multi-core points on the Geekbench 5.
It has 8GB of RAM and runs on the latest Android 11 out of the box. Some of its other specs were tipped earlier, it is said to pack a 4,520mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging technology.
In terms of the display, it will feature a 6.6-inch E4 Samsung AMOLED panel with Full-HD+ resolution. It will boast a 120Hz refresh rate and a higher touch-sampling rate. The smartphone will ship with a 64MP Quad-camera system at the rear and a single camera at the front.
Redmi K40 Pro Specifications(Leaked)
The sibling Redmi K40 Pro will have similar specs with better cameras and a flagship chipset. The Pro model is said to fuel the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. The cameras on the Pro will differ significantly from the vanilla model featuring a whopping 108MP Quad-rear camera system.
With the launch just a day ahead, we are waiting for the official pricing and availability details of the series. The smartphone series is also expected to launch outside China later this year.
