Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has reached heights with its K-series of flagship killer phones. With that said, this year the series was succeeded by the Redmi K40, Redmi K40 Pro, and the Redmi K40 Pro+. Now just after a few months of the launch, the smartphone series is expected to get a new device in the form of the Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition. The launch date for which has just been confirmed by the company.
The Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition will be launching on April 27 in the home market, China. Moreover, the company has teased the phone’s highlighting feature by sharing a GIF on its social media platform. The GIF reveals that the phone’s camera has a ring at the edges that lights up when the slider is turned down. It is probably a way to enable the mechanical shoulder buttons which pop out once the slider is turned down.
Aside from this, the past listings have confirmed that the gaming smartphone will come with an E4 AMOLED panel. It is expected to be a 6.67-inch display with a whopping 144Hz refresh rate. This cuts off the boundaries of 120Hz seen in the existing K40 siblings. The phone is expected to have a triple camera setup at the rear and a single front-facing lens.
In terms of batteries, the Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition will house a 5,000mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging. The smartphone is said to fuel the powerful Dimensity 1200 chipset onboard. It may have a base of 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage option.
According to the sources, the smartphone will cost around CNY 2,000(roughly $308) in China. Interestingly, after the initial launch, the same Game Enhanced Edition is expected to debut in India under Pocophone branding.
