Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi 9 and Redmi 9C smartphones a few months back and later it made available the Redmi 9 as Redmi 9 Prime in the Indian market. However, the Redmi 9C is still missing in the Indian market but just today, Xiaomi’s Indian social media handle confirmed the launch of Redmi 9C as Redmi 9 in India.
Clearing the confusion, the Redmi 9C Global variant will be called the Redmi 9 in the Indian market and Redmi 9 Chinese variant is called the Redmi 9 Prime in the country. The Redmi 9(Redmi 9C Global name) will be launched on August 27 in the region at entry-level pricing.

Ahead of the phone’s arrival, the smartphone’s renders have made its way online. The renders reveal that the Redmi 9 Indian variant has only two rear cameras unlike the triple rear camera setup seen in the Redmi 9C Global variant. It will land in Blue, Orange, and Black color variants.
The Redmi 9 Indian variant will feature a 6.53-inch LCD display with an HD+ resolution. Its exact resolution will be 720 x 1600 pixels. It will sport a 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual rear camera setup and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfie shots.
It will come powered by the MediaTek Helio G35 SoC and have a 5,000mAh battery with 10W standard charging speed. The dual-SIM smartphone will have a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and software-based Face unlock. It will retain the 3.5mm headphone at the bottom and also have the MicroUSB port for charging and data transfer. It will run on the latest MIUI 12 based on Android 10 out of the box.
