The Redmi 9 has just made an appearance on Xiaomi’s global RF certification page, confirming that the phone exists and its model number – M2004J19G. This number was also spotted in a batch of devices that were recently certified by the 3C.
As can be seen from the image below, the Redmi 9 (with the model number M2004J19G) has received its RF certification, which hints at an imminent launch. Though the certification does not explicitly tell us anything about the device, it is the first time that the Redmi 9 moniker has been confirmed, so it’s certainly quite the important revelation.
These certifications don’t reveal much. A related model, the M2004J19C, is listed at the 3C with a 10W charger, though that would be a weird downgrade – both the Redmi 8 and the cheaper 8A support 18W charging.
Xiaomi hasn’t provided any details about the Redmi 9 on its RF exposure webpage. However, the model number that surfaced on the webpage was also spotted on China’s 3C certification site that also shows its 10W charging. A similar model number, M2004J19AG, was also found on the Eurasian EEC certification site.
These devices will be 4G devices, which probably comes as no surprise. The Redmi 9 is expected to be fairly large with a 6.6″ screen and it will be powered by a Helio G70 chipset. This would be a massive improvement the previous Redmi 8’s Snapdragon 439 chip and its quad Cortex-A53 core. The Helio G70 has two A75 cores plus six A55, not to mention the jump in graphics performance with the Mali-G52 2EEMC2 GPU.
