Xiaomi has been updating a lot of their devices to Android 10, and now it seems the Redmi 7A finally gets its turn to shine, but there’s a twist. Unlike most other Xiaomi devices, the Redmi 7A’s update does not bring MIUI 12 to the device, sticking to MIUI 11. On top of that, the update is limited to China.
This strikes us a bit odd, though we can only assume that a global update is coming soon to bring all Redmi 7As up to Android 10. We’re not sure why the device didn’t get MIUI 12 either, though we’re willing to look past it considering it’s a fairly low-end device. The fact it’s getting updates at all is surprising.
Other than Android 10, the MIUI 11.0.1.0 QCMCNXM update also brings the May 2020 security patch to the device, though it’s not exactly the latest security patch. If you’re already running the China firmware or have a Chinese Redmi 7A, you can open up the Updater app to get the update.
