Realme GT Neo Review: Realme launched the more affordable version of the original Realme GT dubbed, the Realme GT Neo in its home country on Mar. 31. The phone boasts a powerful performance configuration, making it a great choice for mobile game players.

Realme’s recently unveiled Realme GT Neo smartphone can now be yours for $349. All you need to do is to follow this link and place your order through Giztop.

    Appearance and Design

The super-light and thin Realme GT Neo weighs just 179 grams, and its measurements are 158.5×73.3×8.4 mm. The rounded curved surfaces on both sides offer a good grip.

The device is available in three eye-catching color options including Geek Silver, Hacker Black, and Final Fantasy, which is inspired by the cyberpunk style.

The rear case of the fuselage is made using a micron-level matte surface. The colors are mainly orange and blue, with some other colors intertwined. When the phone is held diagonally up, the main color is orange, and when it is held down diagonally, it turns orange again.

The left side of the fuselage features a mirror-processed vertical texture. The company’s brand logo, slogan, and camera modules are included in the mirror area in a vertical arrangement.

The mirror surface reflects surrounding objects, with different angles and colors. The box logo features DARE TO LEAP engraved using multi-axis ultra-high-precision machine technology and nano-level illusion texture technology is used to make sure the color looks more unpredictable under the light.

The rectangular camera part slightly protrudes from the fuselage. The simple lens arrangement features neatly arranged vertical 3 shots, dual-color temperature fill light on the right side, and the lens parameter identifications.

The phone houses a 6400W pixel Sony IMX682 main camera and uses an 800W pixel ultra-wide-angle lens for the secondary camera. It also has a 2MP black and white lens.

There’s a 3.5mm headphone opening at the bottom for a better listening experience when connecting wired headphones. The SIM card slot has been shifted to the top of the left middle frame.

Moreover, the phone features a much-needed combination of dual speakers and a linear motor for games. It also supports Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res AUDIO audio certification, and 4D game vibration, which enhances the overall gaming experience.

The motor system, which is referred to as the Tactile Engine has cooperated with games such as Quantum Attack, Ace Warrior, and Honor of Kings. To experience it, you simply need to enable 4D vibration in the game toolbar.

The linear motor also comes in handy in daily use. You can feel its vibration when you long press on the screen, fingerprint recognition feedback, or feedback when sliding the screen back. The current vibration feels when long-pressing the icon isn’t similar to the return vibration feeling.

The Realme GT Neo does not adopt the popular curved screen design but features a 6.43-inch straight screen. The Super AMOLED material of the screen, coupled with a 120Hz refresh rate, and 2400×1080 pixels resolution offers a good experience.

Other features include support for DCI-P3 wide color gamut, front and rear dual ambient light sensors, ultra-clear visual effects and refresh rate switching. There is a front lens opening in the upper left corner of the screen with 1600W pixels, which supports HDR selfies, super night scenes, and portrait blur.

The upper and lower sides of the physical border are wider and the transition between the screen and the border has been equipped with a shock-proof rubber ring. The phone features Goodix’s next-generation under-screen fingerprint recognition.

The fingerprint unlocking speed is very fast and there’s a slew of unlocking animations to choose from. The Realme UI 2.0 did not redesign the IP or icon UI adaptation for games, but users can still customize the system icons, adjust the size of the main visual elements of the icon, and even replace third-party icon packages from the desktop management.

The Realme GT Neo features customized startup effects, sound effects, and vibration. In the game space, all games are presented as rounded rectangular cards. You can slide the hidden card below to access performance mode and various game-specific function setting menus, including 4D Vibration, brightness lock, and three performance modes.

You can use the welt sliders on both sides of the screen to quickly access the game toolbar. For instance, you can directly display the message received during the game on the screen in the form of a barrage, without the small window to disturb the game progress.

The full immersion mode blocks various notifications and calls reminders so that the players can focus on the game. The game hang-up function has to deal with various things, but hope that the game continues to run for a long time.

Under this situation, the screen uses the low-brightness mode to minimize power consumption, and special gesture activation is required to resume the game.

    Configuration and Performance

The GT Neo packs MediaTek’s latest flagship SOC-Dimensity 1200, coupled with a storage combination of up to 12GB+256GB, and a 4500mAh battery with 50W wired fast charge support. The Dimensity 1200 is manufactured based on TSMC’s 6-nanometer process.

The CPU uses a 1+3+4 triple cluster 8 core architecture design, including 1 Arm Cortex-A78 with the main frequency of up to 3.0GHz. Core, with 9-core GPU and 6-core MediaTek APU 3.0, and dual-channel UFS 3.1. As far as network support is concerned, the Dimensity 1200 has integrated 5G baseband and supports dual 5G standby and dual-carrier aggregation, VoNR call enhancement, and other technologies that boost 5G performance while reducing power consumption.

In the Geekbench test, it scored single-core 4600 points and multi-core 13970 points which is close to Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 score. Peace Elite and Yuanshen were used for testing. Peace Elite was run at 60 frames, and the average frame number of the GT Neo reached 59.7 frames in a game of chicken-eating battle.

The power consumption was 14 percent after 30 minutes of gaming, and the highest surface temperature of the fuselage was 40.1 degrees. Full high effects were used in Yuanshen, and the motion blur was turned off for 30 minutes, and the final average frame number was 48.4 frames.

Since the mission and battle continue throughout the process, the frame number graph fluctuates, but there’s no frame drop. The power consumption is 16 percent in 30 minutes and the highest surface temperature of the fuselage is 44.2 degrees.

    Verdict

The Dimensity 1200 processor doesn’t disappoint when compared to the previous generation as far as stability, power consumption, and heat generation is concerned. Control does not surpass the mainstream level.

The Realme GT Neo targets young people with its highly appealing design and color scheme. It has a starting price of 1799 yuan. You can buy the GT Neo for $349 from Giztop by following this link.
