Following in the footsteps of smartphone manufacturers that have been expanding their portfolios with smart TVs recently, Oppo announced that it will also be launching a smart TV later this year.
Popular handset manufacturers such as Honor, Realme, Xiaomi, Nokia, and even OnePlus have launched products in the smart TV segment lately, and it looks like Oppo is all set to follow suit. During the 2020 Oppo Developer Conference, officials confirmed that the company is gearing up to expand its ecosystem with a TV, which will be released in Oct.
Public Info Contributor Venkatesh Babu.G took to Twitter to share the news. Babu. G confirmed that Oppo’s first smart TV will be officially announced in the company’s developers’ conference.
General Manager at Oppo Yi Wei refrained from divulging a lot of details about the actual TV but said it is a key step towards expanding Oppo’s IoT network of devices. The company is likely to come up with smart TV of two sizes including a 55-inch and a 65-inch model, with different remote controls, hinting at different features as well.
It is hardly surprising that Oppo is marking its foray into the TV world, given that OnePlus and Realme are BBK Electronics subsidiaries, and the conglomerate is experienced when it comes to assembling TV sets.
