Oppo has silently tossed two budget smartphones in the Asian markets dubbed Oppo A74 4G and A74 5G. The smartphones may seem to have the same moniker with just connectivity differences but that’s not the case, the internal specs of the phones also differ significantly.
Display and Cameras
Starting with the Oppo A74 4G, the smartphone packs a 6.43-inch AMOLED display with an Full-HD+ resolution. It is a punch-hole panel with thin bezels and modern design. The 4G model comes with 60Hz screen refresh rate and standard touch sampling rate.

On the other hand, the Oppo A74 5G sports a 6.5-inch punch-hole panel with a 90hz high refresh rate. It is a Full-HD+ resolution screen with a better touch sampling rate.
Interestingly, both the phones come with a Game mode that allows the standard touch sampling rate to vary in between 135Hz to 180Hz offering a smooth touch response while gaming.

One major difference between the two phones is the fingerprint scanner. The 4G model boasts an in-display fingerprint scanner, whereas, the 5G model gets a side-facing fingerprint scanner.
As for cameras, the duo features a triple camera system at the rear with 48MP + 2MP + 2MP setup on the 4G variant and a 48MP + 8MP + 2MP setup on the 5G model. There is a 16MP selfie camera on both the phones.
Hardware and Software
Under the hood, the 4G model is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 chipset paired with sole 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The 5G model fuels the Snapdragon 480 chipset with the same 6GB +128GB configuration.
In terms of the battery, the 4G models heads up as it is backed up by a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support as compared to the same battery capacity with slower 18W charging support.
The duo runs on Android 11 out of the box with ColorOS 11.1 on top of it. The phones have a 3.5mm headphone jack for audio and a USB Type-C port forchargin and data transfer.

With two models under the same moniker, Oppo has made its offerings clear. The 4G model offers more value for less price as compared to the 5G model. The choice remains simple if you want an AMOLED panel, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and fast charging support go with the 4G model. If better cameras and 5G connectivity is your priority add ~$40 extra and get the Oppo A74 5G.
