The OPPO A72 5G is now officially on the shelves, and it’s the first ever device on the market to feature the new mid-range MediaTek Dimensity 720 processor. So, let’s take a closer look at the new device.
The 7nm MediaTek Dimensity 720 SoC is comprised of two ARM Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2GHz and six power-efficient Cortex-A55 cores also at 2GHz. There is also an ARM Mali-G75 MC3 GPU that supports video encoding and playback of up to 4K resolution at 30fps.
The Dimensity 720 chipset is accompanied by 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The phone is paired with a built-in 4040mAh battery that supports 18W fast charge, and there’s rear-mounted 16MP+8MP+2MP triple camera setup.
The device features a 6.5-inch 90Hz IPS LCD display with a resolution of 2400×1080 and a 90.5% screen-to-body ratio. Design wise, it’s fairly conventional, though it does come in three nice colour options, those being neon, oxygen purple and simple black.
So, what about the pricing for the new device? The OPPO A72 5G was released in China at a price of 1899 yuan, which is roughly around $271. That’s not too bad at all for a mid-range smartphone of this caliber, though it remains to be seen how well the Dimensity 720 performs.
