MediaTek begins to make a bigger push towards the US market

According to a report from China’s Taiwan Economic Daily, MediaTek high-end mobile phone processors will begin to breach the US smartphone market soon. We’ve seen the beginnings of this with the Dimensity 1000C being adopted by LG Velvet 5G.

Li Yanji, deputy general manager of MediaTek’s wireless communications division, said that compared with other regions, American consumers have limited choices in 5G mobile phone chips.

The company plans to take advantage of this with the Dimensity 1000C’s special features tailored to the US market, including Netflix’s AV1 HDR audio-visual standard certification and codec audio-visual technology in cooperation with Twitch.

The report pointed out that since MediaTek developed the Dimensity series, it has continued to bite its opponent Qualcomm, and now it enters the US market and hits the main battlefield.

The Dimensity 1000C has 4 ARM Cortex-A77 cores and 4 ARM Cortex-A55 cores, using 5 Arm Mali-G57 GPUs. Paired with MediaTek’s AI processing unit, it should meet the needs of most smartphone users.
