As the pandemic continues, it appears Apple have been seeing a surge in demand for iPads. Insiders report that the Cupertino company has placed a large order for iPad LCD displays from none other than LG, and they want the order as soon as possible.
How soon exactly? Well, Apple allegedly wants LG Display to begin supplying those displays as early as June, which is a pretty short window. In response to this, LG have naturally begun ramping up LCD production lines to their maximum capacity to keep up with this sudden order.
This is quite the bizarre circumstance, as display orders are usually placed 3 months in advance, but it appears LG has taken the initiative to push for faster shipments to avoid losing the order to their competitors.
According to an industry insider, “since BOE of China and Sharp of Japan are also major suppliers of panels for the Apple iPad, LG Display needs to respond quickly to Apple’s request not to lose the order to its rivals.” For more news on Apple and LG, stay tuned on Giztop.com.
