Lenovo Legion R9000P 2021 Review: During the recently concluded CES 2021, Lenovo delivered more stylish, high-performance gaming options with the Lenovo Legion PCs, loaded with cooler thermals and hot gaming features.
Currently available for $1,599 on Giztop, the recently unveiled Lenovo Legion R9000P 2021 lives up to this reputation. It demonstrates the strength of the Ryzen 5000 series processor, as well as the RTX 30 graphics. The design of the R9000P 2021 is in line with the style of the series, while the mold looks like a modified version of last year’s R7000P. There is a large Y logo in the middle of the A side without the circular part. When the power is on, it shows a white backlight.
There are ridges on the left and right sides, giving the A side of the device a three-dimensional look rather than a plane appearance like the R7000P. The rear portion of the device has also been morphologically adjusted.
The edge of the fuselage near the front end uses a wedge-shaped design. This highly portable 16-inch product weighs about 2.58kg and is 21.7mm thin.
The screen features an ultra-narrow-sided full-screen design, offering a refresh rate of 165Hz and brightness of 500nits. It offers a 2K resolution of 2560×1600 pixels with a screen ratio of 16:10, and the vertical field of view is wider.
The screen reaches 100% sRGB color gamut coverage, supports Dolby Vision, supports HDR 400, supports G-Sync/FreeSync Premium, and uses DC non-stroboscopic dimming. It has passed Rheinland Low Blue Light and supports X-Rite color management.
The left side of the fuselage features a USB 3.2 Gen 2 TYPE-C interface, which supports DP1.4 video transmission and is equipped with a 3.5mm headset jack. The right side houses a USB 3.2 Gen 1 TYPE-A interface and a camera switch.

When the three modes of Time Spy, Port Royal, and FireStrike Extreme were tested, the graphics card scored 8923, 5161, and 10332. This shows that the performance of the GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU is almost similar to the previous generation RTX 2080Super Max-Q.
The game used for testing was Assassin’s Creed: Hall of Valor, with picture quality-adjusted to a very high level and the FPS limit, and vertical synchronization turned off. The game was played on a default screen resolution of 2560×1600 pixels.
When the Legion R9000P 2021 runs the benchmark of Assassin’s Creed: Hall of Valor, the lowest frame rate is 17fps, the highest is 96fps, and the final average frame rate is 42fps. This game can be played smoothly at a 2K resolution.

The last test game is Cyberpunk 2077. Before the test, the light tracking level is set to super, the DLSS option is the default auto, while the resolution is set to default 2K. When DLSS is automatic, the average frame rate is maintained at about 40FPS.
The average frame rate can be increased to about 60FPS under the same scene if DLSS is changed to performance mode. In the case of DLSS in the performance mode, the Legion R9000P 2021 achieves an average of 58FPS fluency and a high frame rate of 2K resolution.
