Renders for Huawei’s upcoming flagship Huawei Mate 40 Pro have surfaced online, which means it’s once again time to take a closer look at just what exactly the Chinese giant has in store for us.
The new device looks very similar to last generation’s Huawei Mate 30 Pro, down to the huge lens on the back of the device that holds the the smartphone’s quad camera setup. The cameras appear to be larger now, which could indicate that we’re getting gimbal stabilization.

On the front of the device we’ve got a 6.4-inch display with in-display fingerprint scanner. There’s a pill-shaped hole-punch cutout for the front facing camera, and the edges of the screen taper like last year’s model.
The power button and volume rocker are on the right, which may mean Huawei is ditching their edge volume controls. The bottom still holds the speaker grill and USB-C charging port, and there’s unfortunately still no headphone jack anywhere.
There chassis appears to be metal, with curved glass panels on the front and back of the Huawei Mate 40 Pro. The renders show off two colours, a black and a white, though we’re assuming Huawei has more funky colours under wraps.
Overall, it seems not much has really changed from the last device, and that’s fine. We weren’t expecting a massive departure in design, and we’re basically getting exactly what we thought we’d get. We’re hoping to see the device launch soon enough.
