Huawei Files Trademark Application For Mate Watch Moniker

Touted as Huawei’s flagship lineup, the Mate series is slowly transforming into a fully-fledged brand that comprises a wide range of devices including tablets, notebooks, smartphones, and so on.

If recently surfaced registration details are anything to go by, it looks like the constantly growing series will soon get a smartwatch. Huawei recently filed a trademark application, which was later released online. If reports are anything to go by, the new device will come bearing the “Mate Watch” moniker.

Furthermore, it was revealed that the Mate Watch is part of International Classification 9, which encompasses electronic computers and a slew of other electronic products. Considering the name, it looks like the Mate Watch will be a smartwatch and if Huawei sticks to its customary pattern for Mate series of products, the device will be integrated with high-end technology and will be made available in business models as well.

Details about Huawei Mate Watch are still few and far between, but more pieces of information are likely to surface online in the near future. The application date for the Mate Watch is May 6, but it is worth noting that it doesn’t imply Huawei will launch a Mate Watch as this could be the company’s attempt to restrict any other company from using that name. It will also be interesting to see if Huawei introduces the Mate Watch as a completely new flagship or as a replacement for the Watch GT line. Stay in tuned in here for more news and updates about Huawei’s new device.
