Asus has scheduled the launch of ROG Phone 5 for March 10 in New York, Berlin, and Taipei. Ahead of its launch, the Geekbench certification of the smartphone has made it to the news. To our surprise, Asus isn’t sticking with 16GB RAM, rather it is going over-kill with a whopping 18GB of onboard RAM.
Asus ROG Phone 5’s 18GB RAM Model Benchmarked
The launch event is just a few days ahead and if any other smartphone giant is not tossing anything with the same amount of RAM memory, Asus will be the first in the segment.
The Geekbench result reveals that the smartphone has model number ASUS_I005DB which will be the higher-end variant. For those who are unaware, Asus is expected to launch two ROG Phones this year, one with model number I005DA which will be the vanilla variant with a single display, and the I005DB which we are currently looking at is expected to have a secondary screen.
The DB model has scored 1113 single-core points and 3468 multi-core points on the Geekbench 5. These scores are possible due to the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset in the smartphone. It has a base frequency of 1.80Ghz and ‘lahaina’ board. The Asus ROG Phone 5 runs on the latest Android 11 and is expected to have ROG’s custom skin on top of it.
Aside from this, the DA variant was seen benchmarked twice in the last few months. Both the times, it was two different RAM variants – 8GB and 16GB. The same model is also expected to have a Tencent Edition with some software tweaks.
