Asus is back once more with a brand new gaming laptop, and it’s a successor to the Asus Flying Fortress 7 from last year. The aptly named Asus Flying Fortress 8 is a budget oriented gaming laptop, with some really impressive specs for a fairly low price.
The Asus Flying Fortress 8 includes either an Intel Core i5-10300H or a Core i7-10750H, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card, 8GB/16GB of RAM, a 512GB NVMe SSD, and a 15.6-inch 1080p display with a 144Hz refresh rate. You also get a backlit keyboard with 1.8mm travel distance and a “reinforced chassis.”

The Asus Flying Fortress 7 was quite easy to upgrade, so we expect the same here. You should be able to add more RAM or replace the main drive later if you wish. The product description for the model on sale doesn’t mention any extra drives, so it seems like the 2.5-inch bay might be empty. If that’s the case, you can add an extra SSD or hard drive later on too.
With the GTX 1650 graphics card in this laptop will handle most titles just fine on medium to high settings, and at a mere 5899 yuan ($830), it’s honestly quite the steal. The models are presently on presale in China via JD.com and will go on sale from May 18, so if you’re looking to bag one you’ll want to prepare quickly.
