Apple’s Smallest Upcoming Phone Will Be Dubbed iPhone 12 Mini

The much-awaited iPhone 12 lineup is likely to be unveiled sometime in Oct., and the new leaker suggests the impending entry-level 5.4-inch iPhone will be dubbed the iPhone 12 mini.

Aside from that, the leaker suggests the phone that was originally set to release bearing the iPhone 12 Max’ moniker, but it will now be called just iPhone 12. With four new iPhones expected to hit the store shelves this year, Apple must come up with at least one new name for the series.

The Cupertino based tech giant has already used the word “mini” for the iPad, as well as Mac computer lineups. How can we forget about the iPod mini from 2004 – 2005? The larger iPhones, reportedly sporting 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays, are likely to retain the Pro and Pro Max suffixes that have been used with the iPhone 11 lineup.

All Apple iPhone 12 models will miss out on 120 Hz displays, says Ming-chi Kuo

The newfangled iPhones will come with 5G support and will pack Apple’s first chipset on the 5nm process, the A14. Early benchmarks of the chipset hint at incredible performance gains, but should produce better battery performance.

Earlier reports suggest all-new iPhone will feature 60Hz refresh rate OLED screens, and sport smaller notches, creating more space for status icons at the top. As indicated by the Apple Watch Series 5, the new iPhone lineup isn’t likely to come with any charging or EarPods accessories in the box, which Apple attributes to cutting down on electronic waste.
