Well-known whistleblower @Underfox3 discovered a new AMD technology patent. This patent is designed for low-power scenarios, and is essentially an ARM style AMD big.LITTLE core hybrid computing design. It is a new instruction set subset for low-power operations, patent code US10698472.
The patent is still in the adjustment period , and it is not yet certain which platform or market AMD will launch their big.LITTLE style processors for and when the technology will be launched.
ARM released a large and small core technology called big.LITTLE when the Cortex-A7 was launched. It works by combining the highest performance ARM CPU cores with the highest energy efficiency ARM CPU cores, thereby providing better working performance with lower power consumption.
Intel launched the Lakefield processor this year and officially introduced the big.LITTLE hybrid heterogeneous computing architecture to the x86 platform. The processor uses Intel Hybrid Technology (Intel Hybrid Technology) and Foveros 3D stacking process to improve performance while improving energy efficiency and standby power consumption.
